Chapter 18 - The endeavor for Liberation - Slokas - 40, 41.
न तदस्ति पृथिव्यां वा दिवि देवेषु वा पुनः ।
सत्त्वं प्रकृतिजैर्मुक्तं यदेभिः स्यात्त्रिभिर्गुणैः ॥ १८-४०॥
सत्त्वं प्रकृतिजैर्मुक्तं यदेभिः स्यात्त्रिभिर्गुणैः ॥ १८-४०॥
ब्राह्मणक्षत्रियविशां शूद्राणां च परन्तप ।
कर्माणि प्रविभक्तानि स्वभावप्रभवैर्गुणैः ॥ १८-४१॥
na tadasti pri’thivyaam vaa divi deveshu vaa punah’ ।
sattvam prakri’tijairmuktam yadebhih’ syaattribhirgunaih’ ॥ 18-40 ॥
braahmanakshatriyavishaam shoodraanaam cha parantapa ।
karmaani pravibhaktaani svabhaavaprabhavairgunaih’ ॥ 18-41 ॥
There is not a thing on the earth, in the celestial sphere also in the divine that is in reality free from the temperaments born of the Matter, so all these have the the three attributes.
The Priests, Governers, Entrepreneurs and the Workers, hey Parantapa, are distinguished by their actions born of the innate nature influenced by the three attributes of Matter.
